Abstract

The development of agricultural activities in Indonesia has caused an increase in agricultural waste, most of which is plant waste such as corn cobs. Often waste such as corn cobs is wasted. Corn cobs, in fact, contain nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. The purpose of writing this article is to comprehensively discuss the use of agricultural waste, especially corn cobs which are often thrown away to function as compost. The method used is assistance and socialization of the processing and utilization of compost fertilizer from. The results of the assistance in processing compost from corn cobs in East Waringinsari Pekon prove the increase in public understanding in processing agricultural waste into useful fertilizers. The community began to produce compost, which in addition to being distributed to their farmland, was also sold to other farmers around the village. This process creates an additional source of income for farmers, and at the same time reduces the burning of agricultural waste. This program has the potential to change the paradigm of village communities regarding agricultural waste from a problem to a valuable resource that can be utilized. By using corn cobs as the main raw material, rural communities can create new value chains in the agricultural economy.
